On Friday, 29 August, the REPS Astroquiz Team of 2014 competed in round 3 of this national competition. The team members, Nuhaa Ryklief, Mia Hector, Ethan Petersen, Ali-Ridha Sahib and Muthafar Keeran made our school very proud. Unfortunately we missed out on progessing to the next round by the barest of margins! We are very grateful for their hard work for the past two terms and we are happy that we sparked an interest in Natural Science and specifically Astronomy.
What an exciting and astounding athletics season we had at REPS this year! After much practice in the blazing Cape Town Summer heat, our REPS athletics team participated in the Annual Inter-School Athletics event at Vygiekraal Stadium. And did they do us proud! Well done!
Of our team, 7 of our sterling athletes went through to participate in the Zonal (Champs-of-Champs) competition.
These athletes did exceptionally well and they are acknowledged for their participation and eagerness!
Of these 7 athletes, 2 of our athletes made it through to the next round, ie Western Province trials. We congratulate Kimberley Hammond (U12_150m) and Gage Gedult (U12_Discus) for achieving their Western Province colours for their respective events! What an outstanding achievement! REPS commends you on your tenacity, impetus and self-discipline! We wish you well for the years ahead! Keep striving and excelling!
Thank you to all the coaches involved in the training of these athletes! Thank you to all the parents of our athletes, your encouragement, support and motivation goes a long way!
On Thursday 15 August was our Word Wizard Launch for 2013! We all dressed up as characters from different books and had a special assembly to launch the competition. Word Wizard is one of our annual school fundraisers and a highlight every year. Poetry was read to us, special costumes were worn and a group of Grade 7s put on a skit. We even had an ex-learner, currently in grade 10, who has published a book, come and speak to us about the importance of reading!
Aunty Josie has retired on Wednesday , 31 July 2013 . It is the end of an era. She has been an integral part of the non-teaching staff and indeed the staff of Rondebosch East Primary for more than twenty years. She was an well-loved mother figure to the pupils and other staff alike. We will miss her greatly!
