FUN RUN

This year the school organized the event in partnership with the Two Oceans Marathon and Old Mutual in term 1. This event has been the main fundraiser for the school for more than ten years and we are extremely grateful to all our sponsors who so willingly and in abundance support us every year to make a big success of the Fun Run. This year the Fun Run was extended from 4km to a 5,6km run to be exactly  of the distance of the Two Oceans Marathon. Food stalls aplenty and entertainment of a high level act as draw cards to keep our visitors at the school for as long as possible on that day.

DSC_0031AWARDS EVENING

This very prestigious evening at the end of term 4 gives acknowledgement to the learners for both academic, sport and cultural achievements. It is the culmination of a year’s hard work. There are awards per class that go to the top three academic achievers as well as three awards at the teacher’s discretion. For the Grade 7 learners there are subject awards and awards for the Top Ten learners in the whole grade as well. All the sports and cultural categories get covered. The final award of the evening goes to the “ambassador” of the school.

big event that attracts much academic interest amongst our learners and allows us to raise a substantial amount of money. The monetary sponsorship contributed by our parents is used to further education at all levels in our school. The purpose of encouraging; the ability to increase vocabulary and spelling which is a huge concern, has pushed REPS to embark upon ensuring a literate and more confident individual is produced.

word wizard costumeDuring this particular fundraiser, we embark on many interesting activities such as; conundrums, a reading and poetry competition, a ‘character’ dress up day, and also a charity book drive to create an awareness that READING is a means to open a world of opportunity.

Some of the projects that we have been successfully Word Wizard Costume (2)able to achieve with fundraising of this nature are:  the building and fitting out of our Computer Room, the development of our netball facilities and the internal repainting of the school.

The acquiring of adequate resources (up to date media) to sustain our Literacy and Mathematics programmes, are our key foci.

We are very serious about providing our learners with quality education and trust that all our stakeholders share this vision.

Beauty and the Beat

In the second term, REPS produced a wonderful musical concert named Beauty and the Beat. This was our own version of the popular Disney film Beauty and the Beast, where children took the audiences on a musical journey through time and told a tale of looking beneath the surface of a person for their inner beauty. It was an epic production with every grade involved and four full performances. The esteemed Mr. Clive Barrows (who in earlier years became known for his production of Jesus Christ Superstar in South Africa) kindly gave of his time, along with the REPS staff, to direct the concert. Both young and old learners of the school gave of their best to present a colourful, charismatic and a musically skilled performance.

Foundation Phase Play Area

The Phase has embarked on a fundraising project in 2012 to improve the play-area,as this is a vital component for developing gross-motor skills in kids.We had boerewors sales for the last few terms and managed to raise enough money to upgrade our jungle-gym and laid astro-turf. One of our families, Mr and Mrs Kleinsmidt, was so kind to donate the astro-turf. We are now in the final stages of upgrading. DSC_0638This term we will be raising funds to secure the are by adding a palisade fence. Seeing the smiles on our little-ones’ faces when they entered the park for the first time made it all worth while!

Sleepover & Games Evening

What an awesome evening around the camp fire!

With the heavy rains on Tuesday and Wednesday past, parents were a bit anxious about the weather. Thankfully, the rain subsided. Even though the evening was a bit chilly, campers braved the weather to enjoy the outdoors, bringing along their tents to pitch on the field.image004

Our ardent campers created an atmosphere of camaraderie, helping the novice campers setting up and assisting where needed. A lovely atmosphere prevailed.

Lots of laughter, braaing (lekker ge-ëet) and strutting their board games, especially ‘table tennis’ skills, ensured a fun time was had by all.

We thank you and hope to see more campers at our next event.

image001A special thank you to Audrey Hendricks, G. Arendse, N. Fokkens, P. Ontong, N. Ebrahim, for their assistance on the evening and F. Adams and T. Turner for their presence.
